Inaugural ACC Championship Chase 5K Presented by Harris Teeter Announced for December 3rd

Race in Uptown Charlotte Will Take Place the Morning of Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game
Charlotte, N.C. – The Inaugural ACC Championship Chase 5K presented by Harris Teeter will take place the morning of Saturday, December 3rd, it was announced today by game officials. The ACC Championship Chase 5K presented by Harris Teeter signifies the official kickoff of the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship day festivities.
Registration will be $20 in advance and $25 the day of the race. Fans who register online by Friday, November 4 will receive a discount code for $5 off of any individual Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship tickets. There is a limit of eight tickets per registrant.
Race day registration, packet pick-up and chip pick-up will begin at 7:00 am. The race will start at 8:00 a.m. with the start/finish line located on South Tryon Street, between 3rd & 4th Streets, in Uptown Charlotte. ACC mascots and cheerleaders will be rooting on participants on the course and a post-race party will take place at EpiCentre.

All of the ACC Championship Chase 5K presented by Harris Teeter proceeds and direct donations will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). WWP exists to honor and empower wounded warriors who incurred service-connected injuries on or after September 11, 2001. With the mission to honor and empower, WWP is the hand extended to encourage warriors as they adjust to their new normal and achieve new triumphs.
“Harris Teeter has a long history of supporting both college athletics as well as organizations dedicated to helping our military and military families” said Catherine Reuhl, Harris Teeter. “It is an exciting time when we can use our relationship with the ACC to promote and raise money for an organization as honorable as Wounded Warrior Project.”
“This is a great new event for the city of Charlotte and the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship weekend,” said Will Webb, executive director of Charlotte Collegiate Football, the local organizing committee. “Having the ACC Championship 5K presented by Harris Teeter to kickoff gameday is a great addition to the local festivities.”

The Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game, in its seventh year, will kickoff at 8:00 p.m. and is televised nationally on ESPN and ESPN 3D. The winner of the championship earns the ACC bid to play in the Discover Orange Bowl, if not selected for the BCS National Championship Game.
